"My STINT year in Slovakia was by far the hardest but best year of my life. There was not one area that was not affected by being in Slovakia and I highly recommend a year abroad with Cru to anyone considering the mission field as either a short term or life long endeavor."

The city of Košice lies at the base of the Carpathian mountain range in eastern Slovakia and is home to 250,000 people including more than 17,000 university students.  As the second largest city in Slovakia, Košice is a modern eastern-European city that contains a significant amount of western influence.  The recent fall of communism in 1989, coupled with mandated atheism has left a religious vacuum in Slovakia.  Right now is an opportune time to challenge students to put their faith in Christ.

Each summer, the Summer Project hosts several English Camps that utilize one-on-one relationships and a presentation of the Jesus Film to share the Gospel.  The relationships that God provides during the summer are then passed on to the STINT team that lives and ministers in Košice.  The primary goal of the STINT team is to be used by God to raise up national Slovak staff who can reach their own country for Christ.  Currently, there are no International Long Term U.S. Staff living in Košice.  The presence of Long Term U.S. Staff would allow Slovak nationals to be trained while they minister in Košice.

Partner Campuses:
Marshall, Clemson, N.C. State, UNC-Wilmington, WKU

Stage of Ministry:
Began Summer 1997. Currently have STINT team and National Staff, but no ICS.
